What you do when you stress?

What is stress?

Based on Wikipedia, Stress is a biological term which refers to the consequences of the failure of a human or animal body to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats to the organism, whether actual or imagined. It includes a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion. It refers to the inability of a human or animal body to respond. Common stress symptoms include irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate and a variety of physical reactions, such as headaches and elevated heart rate.

From The American Institute of Stress(AIS) : "Stress is not a useful term for scientists because it is such a highly subjective phenomenon that it defies definition. And if you can't define stress, how can you possibly measure it? The term "stress", as it is currently used was coined by Hans Selye in 1936, who defined it as "the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change".

With my opinion, I think Stress is kind of illness related to human's feeling. Example, in a day, when we think too much about one problem or couple of problems happening in that day and we are difficult to have a perfect decision, so the Stress will come up.

What I do when I stress?

Well, when people get stress they actually have different activities to recover their feeling. To me, when I get stress I usually do exercise like playing football, playing volleyball, do jogging around the local park. I also sometimes go for a walk or go out with my friends to do shopping, to do fishing...Oh, one more important activity is I always take a bath. Taking bath is an effective way to recover from stress, I think.

How about you? What you do when you get stress?

I hope to read your opinion about stress by commenting below,Thanks!

Reasons why people should use Google AdSense

As my previous post mentioned about what AdSense is, today, with this post I want to focus on some reasons why people should use Google AdSense on their blogs or websites.

At first, please read 10 reasons from Darren Rowse on ProBlogger.com. The 10 things he wrote are:

1. International Traffic

2. Easy Implementation

3. Massive Advertiser Base

4. Obscure Topics

5. Make it Easy For Advertisers to Target Your Blog

6. Set it and Forget it

7. No Minimum Traffic Levels

8. Able to be Used with Other Ad Types

9. Multiple Ad Formats

10. Reliable Payment

To read more details about the 10 reasons, please visit his blog here....

For me, at the beginning of using AdSense on my blog, I just have 2 reasons as following:

1. Earn money:

Honestly, I want to earn some extra cash while I'm blogging, so I try using it. But I do not know wether I will have good future with this program or not. From what I start placing Adsense ads on my blog I always put in my brain with the integrity by following the program's policies and its terms and services. I think that I must work hard with blogging to earn this extra money as I know "We can not make money without working hard".

2. Reliability:

Google AdSense is run by Google company, which I think is the biggest company of search engine on the Internet. So what I satisfy and believe in AdSesne are:

- Rich of ads: As I know, AdWords is an Advertising Network mananged by Google which million of advertisers on the Internet using it. So based on AdWords program, I think that Adsense publishing network will never lacks of ads to be shown on blogs or websites.

- Full of relevant ads: Adsense is also known as contextual publishing network. Advertisements to be displayed on any websites or blogs are very relevant to the content of the topic on those sites. When people search any keyword on the Internet, they can see more relevant keywords as Adsense ads that related to what keyword they search. So Adsense can make the sites rich of contents.

- Payment: I think that payment is the most important thing that people concern about before they join any program. But with AdSense, do you know anyone not get paid from Google when they reach the minimum payout? For me, I think very very long time when I reach 100$ payout, I will get paid, and the reasons why I won't get paid is due to problem of address or get paid with time delayed as I have read some posts on Cambodian blogger blogs that they also earn money from their blog with Adsense program.

Well, this is just my small idea about the reasons why I use Adsense. I think all you guys will have your own reasons why you use this program, too. Please leave your comment by showing your reasons below, thanks!

History of Blog

Well, as you are reading this post, I would like to ask you few following questions:

- Do you have a blog?

- Are you blogging?

- Do you know the history of blog?

Well, as you've already known, a blog, a contraction term of weblog, is a kind of dynamic website, usually created and maintained by an individual, personal or community usage with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics, song or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Who created the term "Blog" or "Weblog"?

The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used "blog" as both a noun and verb ("to blog," meaning "to edit one's weblog or to post to one's weblog") and devised the term "blogger" in connection with Pyra Labs' Blogger product, leading to the popularization of the terms.

Origins of Blog

Before blogging became popular, digital communities took many forms, including Usenet, commercial online services such as GEnie, BiX and the early CompuServe, e-mail lists and Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). In the 1990s, Internet forum software, such as WebEx, created running conversations with "threads." Threads are topical connections between messages on a metaphorical "corkboard."
The modern blog evolved from the online diary, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. Most such writers called themselves diarists, journalists, or journalers. Justin Hall, who began personal blogging in 1994 while a student at Swarthmore College, is generally recognized as one of the earliest bloggers, as is Jerry Pournelle. Dave Winer's Scripting News is also credited with being one of the oldest and longest running weblogs. Another early blog was Wearable Wireless Webcam, an online shared diary of a person's personal life combining text, video, and pictures transmitted live from a wearable computer and EyeTap device to a web site in 1994. This practice of semi-automated blogging with live video together with text was referred to as sousveillance, and such journals were also used as evidence in legal matters.

Early blogs were simply manually updated components of common Web sites. However, the evolution of tools to facilitate the production and maintenance of Web articles posted in reverse chronological order made the publishing process feasible to a much larger, less technical, population. Ultimately, this resulted in the distinct class of online publishing that produces blogs we recognize today. For instance, the use of some sort of browser-based software is now a typical aspect of "blogging". Blogs can be hosted by dedicated blog hosting services, or they can be run using blog software, or on regular web hosting services.

Rising in popularity

After a slow start, blogging rapidly gained in popularity. Blog usage spread during 1999 and the years following, being further popularized by the near-simultaneous arrival of the first hosted blog tools:

  • Open Diary launched in October 1998, soon growing to thousands of online diaries. Open Diary innovated the reader comment, becoming the first blog community where readers could add comments to other writers' blog entries.

  • Brad Fitzpatrick, a well-known blogger started LiveJournal in March 1999.

  • Andrew Smales created Pitas.com in July 1999 as an easier alternative to maintaining a "news page" on a Web site, followed by Diaryland in September 1999, focusing more on a personal diary community.

  • Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan (Pyra Labs) launched blogger.com in August 1999 (purchased by Google in February 2003)

Here's just brief history of Blog which I've learned from Internet. If you have found more information, comment please!

April Fools' Day

April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day:

It's although not a holiday in its own right, is a notable day celebrated in many countries on April 1. This day people tell, or do something a lie each other as a joke. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on a fool's errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, the jokes only last until noon: like UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool".Elsewhere, such as in Ireland, France, and the USA, the jokes last all day.

So, Please remember and be careful on April 1, the April Fools' Day!!!

Community and cataloging of Blogs

The Blogosphere: The collective community of all blogs is known as the blogosphere. Since all blogs are on the internet by definition, they may be seen as interconnected and socially networked, through blogrolls, comments, linkbacks (refbacks, trackbacks or pingbacks) and backlinks. Discussions "in the blogosphere" have been used by the media as a gauge of public opinion on various issues. A collection of local blogs is sometimes referred to as a bloghood.

Blog search engines: Several blog search engines are used to search blog contents, such as Bloglines, BlogScope, and Technorati. Technorati, which is among the most popular blog search engines, provides current information on both popular searches and tags used to categorize blog postings. Research community is working on going beyond simple keyword search, by inventing new ways to navigate through huge amounts of information present in the blogosphere, as demonstrated by projects like BlogScope.

Blogging communities and directories: Several online communities exist that connect people to blogs and bloggers to other bloggers, including BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog, and YULBlog, a combination online and offline community for people with blogs based in Montreal.

Blogging and advertising: It is common for blogs to feature advertisements either to financially benefit the blogger or to promote the blogger's favorite causes. The popularity of blogs has also given rise to "fake blogs" in which a company will create a fictional blog as a marketing tool to promote a product.

What is Blogosphere?

Blogosphere is a collective term collected from all blogs and their interconnections. All the blogs are connected together as a blogs community (or as a collection of connected communities) or as a social network.

A social network is a social structure made of generally individuals or organizations that are tied by one or more specific types of interdependency, such as values, visions, ideas, financial exchange, friendship, sexual relationships, dislike, conflict or trade.

Sites that tracking Blogosphere, such as Technorati, BlogPulse, Tailrank, Spinn3r and BlogScope track the interconnections between bloggers. Taking advantage of hypertext links which act as markers for the subjects the bloggers are discussing, these sites can follow a piece of conversation as it moves from blog to blog. Sites also exist to track specific blogospheres, such as those related by a certain genre, culture, subject matter or geopolitical location.

Technorati: is an Internet search engine for searching blogs, competing with Google and Yahoo. Technorati was founded by Dave Sifry and its headquarters are in San Francisco, California, USA. Tantek Çelik was the site's Chief Technologist. Technorati uses and contributes to open source software. Technorati has an active software developer community, many of them from open-source culture. The site won the SXSW 2006 awards for Best Technical Achievement and also Best of Show. It was also nominated for a 2006 Webby award for Best Practices, but lost to Flickr and Google Maps.

BlogPulse: is a search engine for blogs. It was initially created by IntelliSeek, and was later acquired by the Nielsen Company. More about BlogPulse, you read more here.

Tailrank: is a site that provides a feed of content on the World Wide Web that's being discussed across the blogosphere. The site continuously scans blogs that have been registered with it, and composes an index of "top stories" that have been cited by the various blogs it has scanned.

Spinn3r: built by the same company as Tailrank, is a web service for indexing the blogosphere. It provides raw access to every blog post being published - in real time.

BlogScope: is a search engine for the blogosphere with advanced analysis and visualization technology. BlogScope is outcome of an ongoing research project at the University of Toronto. As of Oct 2007, the system is indexing around 120 million articles from 14 million weblogs.

Types of Blogs

How many types of blogs?

As I've known, there are many different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content, but also in the way that content is delivered or written.

=>3 types of blogs I've noticed are:

1.Personal blogs:

The personal blog is written in the way of an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual. It is the traditional and most common blog. Personal bloggers usually write about their own daily life, their personal interest..,etc. The blogger of such blog often take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is never read by anyone but them. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life or works of art.

2.United blogs:

United blog, known as corporate blog, can be private, as in most cases, or it can be for business purposes. Blogs, either used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing, branding or public relations purposes are called corporate blogs.

3.Question blogging:

It is a type of blog that answers questions. Questions can be submitted in the form of a submittal form, or through email or other means such as telephone or VOIP. Many question logs use syndication such as RSS as a means of conveying answers to questions.

I think, there will be many other types of blogs. Please give more types by posting your comments below, thanks!
