An Easy Way to Make Recent Posts Widget on Blogger Blog

In my last post I mentioned about the way to Make Recent Comment Widget on Blogger Blog, In this post I'd like write about the way to Make A Recent Posts Widget on Blogger Blog.

Well, before implementing about making the Recent Posts Widget, Please pay attention on some questions below:

-What is Recent Posts Widget?

-> Recent Posts Widget is a kind of Widget to be used to show the recent posts of a blog. It is usually placed at the right/left sidebar on the blog interface.

-Why you need to put the Recent Posts Widget on your blog?

-> The main purpose is that to show the recent posts on your blog. Any reasons more, well, I think it should be more is to care or make the readers pay more attention or to attract your readers to your posts on your blog. Meanwhile, the Widget also make your blog's readers easy to read your blog posts, not waste the time, or spend much time on scrolling up and down to see the recent updated items of your blog posts. Just take a quick look at the Widget, they may get the posts as they are finding to read.

- How to implement the Recent Posts Widget on Blogger Blog?

-> What's I'd like to mention about is on the Blogger blog(blogspot.com), because I'm using this Google blog platform, if you're using this also that means you are on the right place to read more. Well, just follow the 2 steps below, you'll get your Blogger Widget easily:

1. Find your blog's feed URL or blog's Posts(Atom). It's usually with the form of URL like this: http://xxxxxxxx.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default where xxxxxx is to be replaced with your correct blog name. Example, with my visablogging blog, the URL will be: http://visablogging.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

2. Add a the Widget: After you got the feed URL, the next step is just go to your blog Layout->Page Elements and click on Add a Gadget, on the Basics Gadget-List scroll down and click on the Feed Gadget, copy and paste your Feed URL above, then Click Continue, then just Rename the Feed to Recent Posts and do any more configuration as you like. Please check more on the screenshot below as I made to my visablogging blog:

Three Ways To Know Readers Comment on Your Blogger Blog

As my previous post about "Three key points that a blogger should comment on other blogs", Today, I'd like to show you my 3 ways that I've noticed to know the readers comment on my blogger blog.

Here are the three ways:

1. Email Notification: How to get to be notified when the readers comment on the blog? Well, to do this, got to your blogger Settings tab->Comments tab as the image shown below:

On the Comments tab page, scroll down to the "Comment Notification Email" option like the image below:

At this option, you can enter your Email address that you want to receive the Comment Notification Email from blogger.com's comment email: noreply-comment@blogger.com. Any time that your readers comment on any post on your blog, you will immediately receive that Email. Rememer that one comment on that post you will receive one Email, too. Moreover, you can enter upto 10 Email addresses, separated by commas, these addreses will be receive the Comment Notification Email from blogger.com's Email, too.

2. By Checking out Edit Posts:Go to your blog's Posting tab->Edit Posts tab, you will see the list of posts with the number of the readers' comment when they commented on your blog posts.

This is another way to know people comment on each post of your blogger blog. By clicking on the comment links, you will see the readers commented on your blog.

3. By Checking the Recent Comment Widget:

This is also a simple way to check directly on your blog. If you not yet implemented the Recent Coment Widget, please find out with this post!

A Simple Way to Make Recent Comment Widget on Blogger Blog

As I noticed that about two weeks ago I wanted to see the Resent Comment on my "Visablogging::Daily Blogging" blog. But with the default Recent Comment Widget on my blog, it didn't appear the comments that my friends commented on each post of the blog. Then, I found a simple easy way to create the working Recent Comment Widget by just implementing the Javascript below:

<script style="text/javascript" src="http://www.freewebs.com/filer/blogger/rc.js"></script><script style="text/javascript">var a_rc=5;var m_rc=false;var n_rc=true;var o_rc=50;</script><script src="http://xxxxxxx.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=json-in-script&callback=showrecentcomments"></script>

How to implementing the Javascript above?

Just follow the steps below:

1. Go to your blog Layout->Page Elements

2. Click on Add a Gadget

3. Then, choose HTML/JavaScript gadget

4. Copy and paste the code above, then click Save as the image below:

5. Put your new Gadget (Recent Comment) to your prefered sidebar/place.

Note: With the above code

1. a_rc=5: Number of comments listing(5). You can change to your prefered value.

2. o_rc=50: Number of characters of a comment to be shown as a short description of a comment(50). You also can change to your prefered value.

3. src="http://xxxxxxx.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=json-in-script&callback=showrecentcomments". Change the source link to your correct blog link by changing to your blog name which xxxxxxx is your blog name. Example for my blog: xxxxxxx will be visablogging, so the link here will be src="http://visablogging.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=json-in-script&callback=showrecentcomments"

Angkor Wat at Night[Photo by Jenni on Picasa Web: Angkor Wat at Night, Cambodia]

Have you ever try a test of making a shadow of your picture on Firefox?

By keeping your Left Mouse holding on any picture that you see on Firefox browser and then drag the picture a bit far from the picture you dragged, you'll immediately see its shadow. Google Just Launched Google Ad Planner's Publisher Center

I just read one post on Adsense Blog. It is about Google just launched a great tool called Google Ad Planner's Publisher Center.

Google Ad Planner's Publisher Center enables webmasters to see more stats on their sites by providing the sites to potential advertisers. At this time, the Publisher Center is just only available in English and in Publisher Center's Profile just allow only verified domains (siteexample.com) to be appeared. With Sub-domain (siteexample.blogspot.com) verification isn't currently supported. So poor me as well all bloggers using the Sub-domain!!!

Three key points that a blogger should comment on other blogs

1.Do you have a blog?

2.Do you ever comment on other blogs?

3.Why you should comment?

Answering "YES" to the first question, that means you are a blogger. As you are a blogger and visiting your friend's blog or other blogs besides your friends, I think a blogger (including me) should do commenting on those blogs while we are visiting, because I found 3 main points to answer the 3rd question above.

The 3 things are:

1. Relationship: Firstly, talking about the first time you visit a new blog, by doing comment on that blog you can make friend with the blog owner, getting to know each other. After being friend, you will often visit your friend's blog and while you are visiting you make some comments on the blog posts to show your idea, your opinion on the topic of the post you interested in. By commenting on your friend's blog, that means you and your friend are getting closer relationship with each other, so that you can find a blog partner to progress each other blog.

2. Traffic: Leaving comment on other blogs can gain more traffic to your blog. When you comment on any post of a blog, you can leave your comment with your blog link that is in the same niche or similar topic with the blog post or make a comment with your blogger profile, so that the blog owner when he/she read your comment they will view your profile or check your blog link to see who you are, what your blog is commenting on their blog. Anyway, Example: when other 10 people read the post and they see your comment on that post, so the 10 people may visit your blog and you will get 10 more visitors to your blog. That is why and where your blog's traffic is.

3. Brainstorm: Well, what you do before you make a comment on any post of a blog? How should you do to be a good commentator, but not a comment spammer? I think, at first, you will read or scan the topic of the post, at least you can know what the post talking about, so that you leave your comment. Before you leave comment and after reading the post, you will use your brain to think about the word you should leave comment on that post. This point, that means you are training your brain to have a quick brainstorm.

Well, this post is just my small idea of the 3 points above. I hope that when you read this post you would add more points by commenting below, thanks!
